35 years of Pendennis: remembering 2004

2004 marked an important milestone for Pendennis as it saw major updates to the yard’s facilities, as well as iconic project launches including new builds MITseaAH and Margaret Ann, refits Mamamouchi and Enterprise to name a few.

In 2004 the yard made a commitment to continuing the growth of their refit sector, which now accounts for around 80 percent of the work conducted, with the construction of The Terry Vernon Refit Complex, a 150-metre split dry dock. The 150-metre-long dry dock was upgraded to allow division into two 75m long dry docks, substantially increasing the yard’s refit capacity. ‘The Terry Vernon Refit Complex’ was named after a late, dear friend of the yard who had been our first Chairman, and it has been home to many memorable projects since its opening.

New builds:

The 47.5m high performance aluminium motor-sailer, MITseaAH was launched in 2004, and it was the first superyacht to combine the ability to perform well under sail with the high performance of a semi-displacement motor yacht under power. MITseaAH achieved a finalist position at the 2005 Best Sailing Yacht Superyacht Society Awards.

Another new build launched in 2004 includes Margaret Ann, the sailing yacht / sloop that has all the merits and trademarks of a Dubois yacht. Margaret Ann also achieved a finalist position at the 2005 Best Sailing Yacht Superyacht Society Awards.

Refits:

A notable refit of 2004 includes Mamamouchi (now Tenaz) which was constructed in aluminium by Pendennis in 1996. Tenaz has since won the Voyager award at the 2010 World Superyacht Awards.
