Launched by Feadship in 1982, the Motor Yacht Monaco (ex Matanthar, ex Arkan) has visited our yard twice, with two successive owners.
Her first visit as Matanthar in 1992 was as a result of having a new owner who decided to initiate her first major refit to provide enhanced facilities, accommodation and cruising performance.
We were commissioned by the new owner to carry out a series of major modifications designed to give the Yacht a new lease of life. In a twelve week period we removed the old transom and constructed a new version incorporating a swim platform and a larger lazarette, restyled the superstructure to provide a new sundeck, installed a new lightweight composite mast, restyled the main saloon and re-engineered the main engine and generator exhausts from a dry, to a wet systems.
Thirteen years later and having changed hands again in 2004 and following a full seasons use by her new owner the newly named Monaco came back to us again in September 2005. This time around the work list was more extensive as a number of mechanical systems had reached the end of their lives and needed changing – these included the installation of new switchboards and distribution system, a new bow thruster, a new shore-power converter and the refreshment of the air conditioning system. In addition the Yacht received a face lift, with new teak decks, a completed repaint, the overhaul of the owners suite and a new kitchen.
