Apprenticeships
Run in conjunction with Cornwall College, our apprenticeship schemes are very successful and provide the company with a valuable source of highly trained workers. Over the past 12 years, Pendennis has seen over 150 young people enrol on to its award winning General and Surface Finishing apprenticeship schemes.
General Apprenticeship Scheme
Since 1998 we have seen over 120 young people from the local area enrol on our general apprenticeship scheme. The four year course consists of a first year at Cornwall College gaining grounding in all aspects of yacht manufacture and maintenance. The apprentices then spend the next three years at the yard in their chosen trade gaining qualifications and experience. On successful completion of their course, the apprentices often choose to take up positions within the yard and become valued members of our staff.
Surface Finishing Apprenticeship Scheme
Since June 2005 a new innovative apprenticeship scheme has been developed to focus on training local young people in the skills of surface finishing on yachts of all shapes and sizes. This specialist three year course consists of on-the-job training combined with classroom sessions to train the apprentices to achieve the perfect surface finish on our new build and refit projects.

We are delighted to invite applications for our national award winning apprenticeship scheme. The current openings are for 12 General Engineering Apprenticeships on a four year course to begin in August 2012 (leading to a specialism in either engineering, electrical, joinery or fabrication/welding).
