Adela wins the Pendennis Cup

The final day of the Pendennis Cup arrived with sunshine at last and all the competitors were in high spirits after an exciting and close week of racing. With the final results already set for the Pendennis Cup after four days of racing and Adela taking the victory on Thursday, a pursuit race was suggested for Class 1 for the final day on the water, named ‘The St Piran's Pursuit Race'.
In Class 2 there was all to play for but victory was secured by Pinuccia as Tomahawk once again had to retire due to a broken rig after a close fought start.
The successful week was completed with an awards ceremony in the National Maritime Museum, who were host to the Cup's exhibition and organisers office throughout the week.

Mariette's pre-summer refit has been completed with the reinstatement of her huge sailing rig, with the mast alone measuring over 36m long. To celebrate a successful refurbishment and as a thank you to Pendennis, Charlie Wroe, Mariette's captain, invited members of the refit team to be guests on board the vessel during her sea trial. "We have had an excellent refit with Pendennis and I appreciate all the effort the crew and yard guys have put into improving the boat. I thought that the best way to say thanks was to invite the yard employees to come sailing with us, so that we all can enjoy the use of the beautiful yacht." Mariette is now ready to race against other classic yachts in the Pendennis Cup this August.
