The inaugural Pendennis Cup was a sail away success, with seven classic yachts racing over six days for the trophy in our home port of Falmouth - the fleet including Adix, The Lady Anne, Altair, Mariette, Mariquita, Kelpie and Lutine. The yachts fiercely competed for the Cup in sometimes challenging conditions, providing drama and excitement for all to see. On the final day Lutine, Mariette and Altair all left the marina at Port Pendennis with a definite chance of taking the main prize. After a text book start, Altair held on to the lead in 30 knots plus, despite a dramatic challenge from Adix fully powered up on the downwind leg. Altair came tearing over the line to take the gun and the inaugural Pendennis Cup in style.

This year's St Barth's Bucket has been a resounding success for both Pendennis and one of the yard's most stunning yachts, the Frers designed ketch ‘Rebecca'. The ketch launched by Pendennis in 1999, won the Gazelle class ahead of prestigious yachts such as Ranger, Gliss and Sojana and came in second overall out of the 28 competitors taking part. Pendennis became a sponsor of the Bucket this year for the first time in celebration of 2008 being their 20th anniversary year. Rebecca helped us to celebrate by opening the yacht up for a champagne reception for 40 Pendennis VIP guests on the first evening of the event.
