Pendennis receives Royal visit

In celebration of our 20th anniversary Pendennis received a visit from HRH The Duke of York on the 14th October. The Duke toured the site speaking to staff and crews, as well as visiting many of our current projects.

New batch of apprentices graduate

Nine more Pendennis apprentices graduated from our award winning apprenticeship scheme at the end of September. The apprentices were presented with their new blue hats (denoting that they are fully qualified craftspeople), their new contracts of employment, all relevant qualifications and their Duke of Edinburgh certificates.

Red Arrows steal the show at Monaco

The display by the Red Arrows on the 25th September at the Monaco Yacht Show, well and truly brought the show to a stand still. Celebrating our 20th anniversary as well as British Excellence in the superyacht industry the display was the talk of the town.

S.Y Adix kick starts our 2008 Winter refit season

S.Y Adix has just started her latest refit with us here in Falmouth. This will be her third visit to us for a substantial refit and this time round she will be here for six months. This trip work includes a full paint job, an engineering programme, renovation of her deck houses and some teak work.

Following on from the success of the Pendennis 95' series, Pendennis have again teamed up with two power houses of British design and naval architecture - Reymond Langton & Nigel Irens - to bring you the Phantom 45m. Launching at this years Monaco Yacht Show the Phantom 45m offers clients a chance to own a truly modern British designed and built cruising yacht with fantastic interior design and layout combined with striking exterior lines. Reymond Langton's signature bow provides the Phantom with a sleek, aggressive profile, with a Nigel Irens hull delivering terrific through-the-water performance and a target speed of 18 knots.

Pendennis Cup - a sail away success

The inaugural Pendennis Cup was a sail away success, with seven classic yachts racing over six days for the trophy in our home port of Falmouth - the fleet including Adix, The Lady Anne, Altair, Mariette, Mariquita, Kelpie and Lutine. The yachts fiercely competed for the Cup in sometimes challenging conditions, providing drama and excitement for all to see. On the final day Lutine, Mariette and Altair all left the marina at Port Pendennis with a definite chance of taking the main prize. After a text book start, Altair held on to the lead in 30 knots plus, despite a dramatic challenge from Adix fully powered up on the downwind leg. Altair came tearing over the line to take the gun and the inaugural Pendennis Cup in style.

Short haul out for S.Y Altair

S/Y Altair has just left Pendennis after a brief haul out for maintenance work on our 400 tonne travel hoist. She is now moored back up at Port Pendennis Marina where she will stay until the Pendennis Cup in early August.

National recognition for our Apprenticeship scheme

We are pleased to announce that Pendennis has won the Large Employer of the Year category at the 2008 Learning and Skills Council Awards. The awards recognise the hard work and commitment of people who are currently undertaking an apprenticeship, as well as the employers who are successfully using apprenticeships to improve business performance.

Va Bene heads back to the Med after successful nine month refit

M.Y Va Bene has left Pendennis after a highly success winter refit program. The 47.5m (156ft) motor yacht had an extensive work programme carried out on board to upgrade and in some cases re-work both her interior and exterior spaces. The works list included a complete repaint, remodelled master cabin and a comprehensive overhaul of her engineering and electrical systems.

Superyacht UK tour comes to Pendennis

The tour brought in 27 delegates from all over the globe, the group included captains, brokers, designers and naval architects from the superyacht industry. They spent the afternoon touring the shipyard looking at our seven current projects. This was followed in the evening by a UK industry showcase and dinner at Pendennis Castle, where 100 people gathered to network and socialise. The tour is organised by the British Marine Federation and is designed to showcase he 'Best of British' in the superyacht industry.

Double awards celebration

The 2007 refit on MY Elisabeth F has proven to be a great success for everyone involved. She recently won the ShowBoats Award for Best Refit in 2008 and got a highly commended at the World Superyacht Awards in Venice.

New sponsors of the 2008 Bucket Regattas

This year's St Barth's Bucket has been a resounding success for both Pendennis and one of the yard's most stunning yachts, the Frers designed ketch ‘Rebecca'. The ketch launched by Pendennis in 1999, won the Gazelle class ahead of prestigious yachts such as Ranger, Gliss and Sojana and came in second overall out of the 28 competitors taking part. Pendennis became a sponsor of the Bucket this year for the first time in celebration of 2008 being their 20th anniversary year. Rebecca helped us to celebrate by opening the yacht up for a champagne reception for 40 Pendennis VIP guests on the first evening of the event.
