  • Planning & Design

    We appoint a dedicated Project Manager to every contract from the outset, so we can plan and manage the necessary resources in the most timely and efficient manner. The Project Manager becomes your first point of contact, ensuring that your expectations are accurately conveyed within the company and that progress is regularly monitored and reported. Technical support is provided from a central office which is able to advise on all aspects of yacht construction from structural design to fine finishing details, with extensive knowledge of both classification society regulations and MCA requirements.

    The highly experienced marine electrical team at Pendennis is able to advise, design and install all types of cutting edge electrical and electronic systems and equipment. Starting with power generation, storage, conversion and distribution we source our electrical panels and switchboards from tried and trusted manufacturers. Our cable installations are completed to the highest marine & class specifications with all cables being neatly installed and individually tagged. Our Project Engineers can source the most appropriate electrical equipment, integrated navigation systems, and bespoke entertainment packages, all installed and commissioned by our own in-house technicians.

    Our highly skilled fabricators are able to work to exacting standards with both steel and aluminium on any vessel. The team is very familiar with the requirements of classification societies such as Lloyds, ABS and DNV and all of our welders are coded by them. Welding is carried out using the latest Super Pulse or synergic MIG sets, keeping plate distortion to an absolute minimum as specified by leading designers.

    The experienced in-house painting team specialises in the exterior fairing and painting of Pendennis’ new builds, re-sprays on existing vessels and also interior protective coatings inside the structure and tank spaces. Quality control is paramount and starts with ensuring the cleanest possible working environment. Temperature and humidity is continually controlled and recorded for the project duration. Whenever possible, smaller components are removed from the vessel and sprayed in our state-of-the-art spray and drying booths.

    The deck outfitting team is made up of talented shipwrights and engineers who take care of designing, sourcing, fitting and commissioning such items as passerelles, cranes, anchor and mooring equipment, deck winches, sailing hardware, rails and stanchions, windows and port lights, safety equipment, Jacuzzis and splash pools. Members of this team are also knowledgeable in the installation and setting up of masts and spars and commissioning sail handling systems.

    The talented joinery team is able to produce high quality interior and exterior woodwork. Interior projects can range from small modifications during refits through to complete new build projects. The team can produce all types of interior styles from traditional Edwardian raised and fielded panelling through to minimalist flat panel designs – finished in high gloss or satin finishes to Owners’ specifications. Exterior woodwork can comprise fitting of teak decks, capping rails, traditional companionways, skylights and cockpit furniture.

    The team of over 40 engineers has a wealth of experience in the superyacht industry within the new build and refit sectors. We regularly repair, refurbish, maintain and fit engineering installations for the plethora of systems that are available to the yacht industry, which can vary between extremes such as shaft alignment to fitting Jacuzzis. Pipe manufacture and installation is conducted in various types of materials including plastics, galvanised steel, cunifer and stainless steel - depending on customer specification and/or class requirements. The team operates from a central 360sqm workshop fitted with numerous lathes, milling machines, pillar drills and welding bays. The majority of work is completed on board always concluding in commissioning, sea trials and handover to the client.
